The buzz is out — the DC region is expecting at least five inches of snow this weekend, according to those weather gurus at NOAA. That means Silver Springers can expect a run on milk, bread and toilet paper at local supermarkets.
But we at Penguin HQ won’t let a few snowflakes signal the apocalypse. The guys in the mailroom have carted cases and cases of tasty beverages into the office for our consumption. And we’ve raided Discovery Communications‘ restrooms enough times this year to keep us rolling in toilet paper until February.
After that, who needs milk or bread?
If you’ve got photos of the snowpocalypse, or the panic preceding it, please consider adding them to The Penguin’s Flickr pool. It’s good therapy for cabin fever. Then venture out onto the tundra:

Boxed wines and rosés are back in vogue. Just ask The Penguin's sommeliers.
I thought the downtown Safeway would be easy to get in and out of today. Needed some baking supplies. They probably had more business and longer lines than ever before. Haven’t seen lines like that since the ‘70, when they keyed the prices. Of course, they have about one-fourth the checkout lines that Giant has.
Well there goes my plan to pop in and buy some milk, bread and toilet paper – essential ingredients for making French Toast Roulade. However I am enjoying the weather which is a vast improvement over the big Wintry Mix non-storm of ‘07.
