The Early Bird

UPDATE — So far, it looks like the new Penguin layout has held up — no crashes, no columns dangling at the bottom of the page, and the YouTube videos run fine.

However, the website has one issue with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser. Clicking the number of comments or “Holler back” on the home page doesn’t always get a reader to the comments section. Instead, Explorer abandons the reader in the middle of the post, naked, cold and with no money for the cab ride home.

Unfortunately, that’s Internet Explorer for you. It corrects what it perceives as mistakes, instead of doing what the nice Penguin tech crew asks it to do. Maybe Windows 7 fixes that issue. Maybe it doesn’t. For now, the tech crew is leaving this for Microsoft to address.

Please pardon any bumps that Internet Explorer may toss in your path as you cruise The Penguin website. If you’re rocking Google Chrome, Apple’s Safari or Mozilla Firefox, relax and check out what’s going down this week:

Scrub the fake blood, latex guts and other remnants of Saturday’s zombie walk from the carpeting at Penguin HQ.

When I first read this, I thought, “children age 2 to 24?” Is this a typo? But sure enough, I checked the site, and apparently I’m still a school age child! That’s news to me…

Editor’s note: Get that vaccination NOW! — JD (Oct 26, 2009)

  2. Eric says:

It’s the age group most susceptible to this strain, so I’m headin’ over there tomorrow to try to get inoculated. Good thing I’m only 23!

  3. maralenenok says:

Hey, I’m just barely eligible for the vaccine! Awesomecakes.
