Penguin editor brags about Washington Post podcast

It’s a little quiet in The Penguin newsroom today, so I present for your listening pleasure (or displeasure) this week’s Raw Fisher podcast from The Washington Post.

Marc Fisher, who writes for The Post’s Metro section and hosts the half-hour audio show, interviewed me and The Prince of Petworth (actually, a cool guy named Dan) just this morning on the impact of hyperlocal reporting on the online news scene. Hit it here:

Thanks to Marc, his producer Mike, and Prince Dan for a great discussion!

I listened to a portion of the podcast and found it very informative. Jennifer, you are providing a great public service for the residents of Downtown Silver Spring and nearby neighborhoods. I usually find your coverage of local events more timely and more entertaining then similar stories in the Gazette. Maybe there’s a foundation out there that could provide the Penguin with a grant to continue its community-based reporting.

  2. The Penguin Foundation? Cool!

    Jennifer,
I listened to the Marc Fisher interview and agree that your coverage of our issues is welcome and needed, as it helps create and maintain a sense of community. As my beloved Post fades to a weekly, I hope you’ll stick around…

Congratulations with the interview, Jennifer. Your hard work is getting some regional-wide recognition at last.

Why does the Gazette still exist? The Penguin web site is the future of local news gathering.

Nice podcast. What is this thing called The Washington Post?

I would have liked to have heard how Prince of Petworth makes a buck — I hope you got the scoop on that one.

Also, I’ve never heard SS described as a big shmear. Or was it smear?
