And there will be plenty of rumps rocking to thick electronic beats, both in South Silver Spring and at Pyramid Atlantic. Please be prepared to pull a couple of robot moves.

Friday

5:00 p.m. The Pyramid Atlantic Art Center celebrates the opening of its new retail shop (924 Ellsworth Dr) with free booze — specifically, mimosas, champagne and wine — and munchies from Nicaro and Olazzo. Oh yeah, and art. Hit it until 8:00 p.m.

5:30 p.m. Swing singer Gina DeSimone performs at South Silver Spring’s Arts Alley (8030 Georgia Ave). This event is part of the weekly Arts Alley Fridays series of free performances.

6:00 p.m. Shake that ass! Show me what you got! Loda, an electronic music-and-multimedia event, hits Gallery restaurant and lounge (1115 East-West Hwy) until the wee small hours of the morning. Ten bucks and convincing ID get you through the door.

6:30 p.m. The Last Minute Jazz Quartet plays — um — jazz by the fountain on Ellsworth Drive. This free gig is part of the Downtown Silver Spring shopping center’s weekly entertainment series.

8:00 p.m. The Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd) presents the comedy “Incorruptible”. Tickets are $15 to $18 each.

Saturday

9:00 a.m. Freshfarm holds its weekly farmers market on Ellsworth Drive, between Fenton Street and Georgia Avenue. There is no admission fee.

9:00 a.m. Pyramid Atlantic’s new art gallery (924 Ellsworth Dr) keeps the free mimosas — oh, and art — pouring until 7:00 p.m. Drink early, drink often.

5:00 p.m. The Gateway Heliport Gallery (8001 Kennet St) celebrates the opening of “Heads, Torsos, Legs”, a collection based on the “Exquisite Corpse” game. The free reception rolls until 8:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m. The Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd) presents the comedy “Incorruptible”. Tickets are $15 to $18 each.

Sunday

7:00 p.m. Organizers for the Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music hold a fundraising concert at the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center (8230 Georgie Ave). Five bucks gets you through the door.
