The Early Bird

The Penguin tech crew assures me there’s nothing that can’t be fixed with a little duct tape. And that includes a web server.

Hopefully, this means last week’s service disruptions are a done deal. There’s just too much cooking this week for technology to fail me now. Check it out:

Monday

7:30 p.m. Silver Spring’s transportation and pedestrian safety committee talk about, well, transportation and pedestrian safety. The gab hits the Silver Spring Regional Center (8435 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.

Tuesday

10:40 a.m. The county council gets its first taste of a supplemental appropriation to cover construction costs on the Silver Spring Transit Center. The first shoe drops in Rockville and is open to the public.

10:40 a.m. Here comes that other shoe. The county council gets a lick at a supplemental appropriation to cover construction costs on Silver Spring’s civic center. Rockville. Hit it.

11:15 a.m. MoCo exec Ike Leggett’s affordable housing task force briefs the county council on — what else — affordable housing. The show hits Rockville and is open to the public.

2:30 p.m. The county exec’s office rolls out a proposal allowing downtown developers to kick out entertainment venues as public spaces. Kick it with the county council in Rockville when this one drops.

Thursday

2:00 p.m. The county council’s housing and economic development committee mull over two zoning text amendments affecting Fenton Village — one raises building heights to accommodate workforce housing, the other raises heights for a proposed hotel. The show hits Rockville and is open to the public.
