My bout with Penguin burnout has nearly run its course. The dread, the aches and pains, the countless hours spent huddled beneath my desk in the fetal position are just about over.
Time to get back to work, and not a minute too soon:
Tuesday
9:00 a.m. The planning department holds a charette (that’s French for “workshop” or something) to determine designs for Silver Place, a mixed-use development on Georgia Avenue at Spring Street.
This free joint rolls all day at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (8777 Georgia Ave, Lincoln conference room, fourth floor) and is open to the public.
Wednesday
9:00 a.m. The all-day brainstorming over Silver Place continues at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (8777 Georgia Ave, Lincoln conference room, fourth floor). Hit it, if you’re so inclined.
Thursday
9:00 a.m. The Silver Place charette gets cooking with oil at the Crowne Plaza Hotel (8777 Georgia Ave, Lincoln conference room, fourth floor). It’s another all-day affair, so BYO Red Bull.
9:00 a.m. The county planning board chews the fat over zoning text amendment 08-07 and subdivision regulation amendment 08-02, both of which could increase building heights or densities to squeeze in moderately priced dwelling units.
This free event rocks MNCPPC headquarters (8787 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.
1:00 p.m. There’s more fat to be chewed at the weekly planning board meeting. This time, it’s all about zoning text amendments 08-08 and 08-10, which could raise building heights in Fenton Village to accommodate workforce housing and hotels, respectively.
Hit MNCPPC headquarters (8787 Georgia Ave) for the free show.
7:30 p.m. Sam Zimmerman, former director of planning with the Federal Transit Administration, discusses the myths and realities of bus rapid transit. This free presentation takes place at MNCPPC headquarters (8787 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.

Hey, Jennifer! Good on you, as the Brits say, for taking some well-deserved time off. We need you & Penguin too.
Welcome back. You have official reader permission to allow yourself a break the curling up in a ball under your desk stage!
whoops meant to say “…a break before finding your self in the curling up in a ball under your desk stage.” Think I might need a break myself!! :)
Holler back.
