Here are highlights (read: lowlights) of the third police district’s recent crime reports.

  • A strong-arm robbery occurred at St. Michael’s Church (805 Wayne Ave) on Saturday, May 10, at 6:50 p.m. The suspect approached his victims inside the church, demanded money and assaulted them as he tried to take their wallets. The 24-year-old male suspect of no fixed address was arrested on the scene.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the parking lot of Whole Foods Market (833 Wayne Ave) on Tuesday, May 13, at 4:16 p.m. A 19-year-old male from northeast DC and an 18-year-old male from Gaithersburg physically assaulted their victim and were later arrested.
  • A vehicle was stolen at the Texaco gas station (8600 Georgia Ave) on Tuesday, May 6, at 1:55 p.m. The victim left her car — a white 2000 Nissan Altima with Maryland tags — running while she went inside. A 6-foot-tall black man weighing 205 to 225 pounds was seen driving the car away.
  • An aggravated assault occurred on Monday, May 5, at 6:45 p.m. when a trespasser cut a manager at American Apparel (8701 Colesville Rd) with a knife. The police report provides no further details.
