Friday

6:00 p.m. Washington Gardener magazine celebrates the opening of “PhotoSynthesis”, a show featuring winners of its second annual photo contest. The free reception takes place at the Adams Bank (8121 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.

7:10 p.m. Kefa Cafe’s Space 7:10 (963 Bonifant St) hosts a discussion on books about Cambodia, including: Francois Bizot’s memoir “The Gate”; “First They Killed My Father” by Loung Ung; the 1984 film “The Killing Fields”; “The Death and Life of Dith Pran” by Sydney Schanberg; and the autobiography of Haing S. Ngor. This event is free and open to the public.

8:00 p.m. Actor and playwright Kate Campbell Stevenson debuts her one-woman musical, “Petticoats in Politics”. The performance takes place at the Round House Theatre (8641 Colesville Rd). Tickets are $20 each.

A reception and trunk show benefiting Empowered Women International starts one hour before showtime.

Saturday

8:00 p.m. Actor and playwright Kate Campbell Stevenson debuts her one-woman musical, “Petticoats in Politics”. The performance takes place at the Round House Theatre (8641 Colesville Rd). Tickets are $20 each.

A reception and trunk show benefiting Empowered Women International starts one hour before showtime.

    MD’s best/only monthly comedy experiment is tonight. The Awesome Room is going to have some really good comedians and a funk band.
