MAR 21 — Nothing says “spring” like an old-fashioned explosion. YouTube user Squirrelist (aka part-time Penguin ninja Jimmy the What What) recently scaled the Mica condos on Blair Mill Road to film construction workers blowing up bedrock at a nearby site.
“Surprisingly, the air-horn blasts seem much louder than the actual blast,” Jimmy wrote.
The blasting, which goes down once daily at 2:00 p.m., makes way for an underground parking garage at 1200 East-West Hwy, states a post on the South Silver Spring Neighborhood Association’s website.

Thank you for solving my mystery! I work from home and have noticed my house rumbling every day, once a day, for the past couple of weeks. It sounds just like when an avalanche of melting snow falls off my roof in the wintertime, but there’s obviously no snow in March/April. Sure enough, it happens at 2pm each time (except sometimes the workers seem to be a few minutes behind schedule).
