Now that The Penguin newsroom has been sanitized, we can move on with the important stuff, like the newsroom’s 2008 Girl Scout Cookie Watch.
The Penguin hazmat crew quickly spotted one troop pushing cookies outside the Blair Plaza Giant on Saturday. If you know where we can score Thin Mints and Do-si-dos in the downtown area, holler back.
Until then, here’s what’s happening this week:
Monday
5:00 p.m. The Austin Grill (919 Ellsworth Dr) hosts a fundraiser to benefit art programs at the Silver Spring International Middle School. Thirty percent of the evening’s receipts (excluding alcohol sales) go to support a mural project and the school’s art department. This event is open to the public.
Tuesday
5:00 p.m. El Golfo restaurant (8739 Flower Ave) hosts a fundraiser to benefit the Two County Turning Point project. Twenty percent of all the evening’s receipts go to support a youth-generated mural along New Hampshire Avenue in Long Branch. This event is open to the public.

I caught some cold Girl Scouts hawking cookies outside the Giant in White Oak off New Hampshire this Saturday. I didn’t get there until 4PM or so and they were totally out of Thin Mints. Good luck!
