Throughout the holiday season
The Washington Regional Alcohol Program offers free cab rides home for partyers too trashed to drive. The free-ride program rolls from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night, and covers fares up to $50. Check out the program’s website for details.
Tuesday, Dec 25
The county observes the Christmas holiday. County offices, libraries and liquor stores are closed, as are state offices and courts. Metro and Ride On buses roll on a Sunday schedule; Metro rail rolls from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on a Sunday schedule. And if you’re not too trashed to drive, feel free to park at county-operated lots and metered spaces — on the house.
Wednesday, Dec 26
Eager to put the kibosh on this holiday season? Start by dragging that Christmas tree to the curb for the county’s recycling program. Procrastinators have until Feb 1 to handle their business.
Monday, Dec 31
Metro trains and buses do their usual weekday thang. However, service runs until 2:00 a.m. for those who absolutely must get their grooves on in The District.
Tuesday, Jan 1
The county sleeps off its New Year hangover. County offices, libraries and liquor stores are closed, as are state offices and courts. Metro and Ride On buses roll on a Sunday schedule; Metro rail rolls from 7:00 a.m. to midnight on a Sunday schedule. And if you must sleep in your car, feel free to do so at county-operated lots and metered spaces — for free.
