Members of The Penguin newsroom hit the barber shop this weekend for their mandated monthly buzz cuts. With mohawks now neatly in check, intrepid Penguin reporters are ready to conquer this week’s news events.

Here’s how it all plays out:

Monday

7:00 p.m. Silver Spring’s citizens advisory board looks into more cash for VanGo bus service, and less ruckus from freight-train horns. The board kicks it at the Round House Education Center (925 Wayne Ave). This meeting is open to the public.

Wednesday

7:00 p.m. The MoCo PD’s photo speed-enforcement unit gives area residents the full scoop on its analysis of Dale Drive traffic. The presentation hits the Silver Spring International Middle School (313 Wayne Ave) media center and is open to the public.

Thursday

8:00 a.m. Silver Spring’s transportation-management district advisory committee examines how to get commuters out of their cars and onto mass transit. The public meeting rocks Discovery Communications (1 Discovery Pl).

7:00 p.m. Montgomery County’s affordable-housing task force holds a public work session on what “affordable housing” means to area residents. The talk goes down at the Long Branch Community Center (8700 Piney Branch Rd) and is open to the public.
