2:00 p.m. Find out what all the stink is about and tour the Old Blair auditorium, next to the Sligo Creek Elementary School (313 Wayne Ave). The guided walk is free, but donations towards the joint’s renovation are appreciated.

7:00 p.m. Jazz composer Terence Blanchard discusses his work on “The Inside Man” (2006) at the AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Rd). The $7 admission covers the flick and talk, but not the popcorn.

11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Take the pooch to see The Humane Society’s Santa on downtown’s Ellsworth Drive. Five bucks gets you a memorable photo and puts a warm, fuzzy feeling in your heart that only helping The Humane Society will do.

11:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Silver Spring’s king of rockabilly, JP McDermott, drops a free performance at the Silver Spring Metro station as part of WMATA’s Metro Performs! series. The rock and roll are free; the bus ride home will cost you.
