It’s Cyber Monday, when cubicle dwellers hit the virtual mall in search of holiday goodies and free shipping. It’s an opportunity for tech nerds across America to LOL at everyone who woke before dawn last Friday just to save a few bucks on “Guitar Hero”.
Rock on, geeks! Here’s what’s going on this week:
Monday
7:30 p.m.Silver Spring’s transportation and pedestrian safety advisory committee talks about, well, transportation and pedestrian safety. The meeting hits the Silver Spring Regional Center (8435 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.
Thursday
9:00 a.m. The company that wants to raze the Perpetual Building (8700 Georgia Ave) asks the planning board for a third deadline extension on its project-plan review. A proposed mixed-use development for the site is in the air while the planning board decides whether to protect the existing building as an historic structure. The straight up-or-down vote drops at the planning board HQ (8787 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.
3:45 p.m. The county’s planning board yaps about what kind of space it needs at its future Silver Place HQ. The new office space will be part of a mixed-use development on Georgia Avenue at Spring Street. The meeting goes down at the board’s current digs (8787 Georgia Ave) and is open to the public.
7:00 p.m. The nonprofit group Impact Silver Spring hosts a discussion on the area’s future beyond the downtown core. The free event goes down at Discovery Communications HQ (1 Discovery Pl). Space is tight, so call (240) 247-0285 to reserve a seat.
