This Weekend

The annual Thanksgiving parade rolls through town Saturday, so let us give thanks for grand marshal Manny Acta (above) and the Washington Nationals. At least we can be grateful that the Nats aren’t the Mets.

Here’s what’s going on this weekend:

Thursday

7:00 p.m. Pacers running store (8535 Fenton St) hosts its free, weekly 4- to 7-mile fun run. No excuses this time.

8:00 p.m. The Spooky Action Theater presents “Dark Rapture” at Montgomery College’s Black Box Theatre (Philadelphia at Chicago Aves). Tickets are $10 ($5 for students).

Friday

7:10 p.m. Kefa Cafe’s Space 7:10 (963 Bonifant St) presents two plays: “Mr Daniels” by Chere Williams, and excerpts from “Sleepy Lagoon” by Leon Levenson. The performance is free. The chai latte in your cup will cost you.

8:00 p.m. The Spooky Action Theater presents “Dark Rapture” at Montgomery College’s Black Box Theatre (Philadelphia at Chicago Aves). Tickets are $10 ($5 for students).

8:00 p.m. The Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd) presents “Broadway Bound”. Tickets are $13 to $18.

Saturday

10:00 a.m. The county holds its tenth annual Thanksgiving parade. The route travels along Georgia Avenue starting at Sligo Avenue, passes through Silver Plaza on Ellsworth Drive, then ends on Fenton Street. Catch it until 12 noon.

7:00 p.m. Get a quick lesson on black holes and Einstein’s theory of relativity at Montgomery College’s planetarium (7651 Fenton St). The planetarium show is free.

8:00 p.m. The Spooky Action Theater presents “Dark Rapture” at Montgomery College’s Black Box Theatre (Philadelphia at Chicago Aves). Tickets are $10 ($5 for students).
