This Weekend

A great writer — I believe it was Geddy Lee of Rush — once said: All the world’s a stage, and we are merely players. Since Silver Spring doesn’t have a stage big enough to host Rush (not yet, anyway), theater goers can check out this weekend’s other gigs.

How do you tell someone grew up in Rochester, NY in the 70s ?

    (1) They unanimously romanticize and bring up Wegman’s at every opportunity they get, while still failing to recognize that they do so and have an unhealthy fetish.

    (2) They quote Geddy Lee of Rush (and love Peter Gabriel-era Genesis).

    (3) Someone in their immediate family works for Kodak, Xerox or Bausch & Lomb.

So far, you’ve exhibited two of those three traits, Penguin. Can you verify the third ?

    No offense :)

  2. Okay, Lurker, let’s go through your list:

    (1) While I do maintain many unhealthy fetishes, Wegmans isn’t one of them.

    (2) Geddy Lee was quoting Shakespeare, and I enjoy “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” just as much as “Abacab”.

    (3) If I had immediate relatives working for either Kodak, Xerox or Bausch & Lomb, I wouldn’t have to shell out so much money on film, photocopies or contact lenses.

And while I did grow up in 1970s New York, you’ve gotta go south of Rochester — try Brooklyn — to find my roots.

    That was fun. :-)

    What’s “film”?
