Yeah, what’s with the golf store. Apparently, no one has accurate read on just what this area needs/wants.

I’ve always believed that Silver Spring is so economically and racially diverse as to be downright confusing to retailers looking to locate here.

I mean, sure, there are golfers here. But it’s not exactly something I’d choose to take up space on Fenton. Bizarre…

Hollywood Video blows chunks. The independent film selection is small. The DVD copies always have scratches that totally screw up the viewing experience. Netflix is great.

Pier 1 has been posting discount signs like every weekend for the past year. That store is on its death bed in SS.

Oh yeah, I will bet the Golf store fails within a year.

Why can’t Hollywood Video loses its lease instead? It is the worst video store I’ve ever done business with (or used to — I stopped going in there years ago; Netflix is the way to go). Lousy service, lousy selection.

I’ll miss Moto Photo — they were good.

I could never understand the allure of Bombay’s furniture. The pieces looked like they belong in a crusty old mansion.

I hope Nicaro works out. I know the YAPpie crowd will be the likely customer base but I think it’s great that a restaurant is opening in the SoCo area.

Breaking into American Apparel at the busy corner of Colesville and Ellsworth took some serious balls by the crooks. But when you are looking for quick money to pay the rent or the drug habit, desperate times call for risky ventures.

Bombay belongs in a mall, not on Hellsworth. Hopefully we’ll get a fine, independent restaurant there.

I’m psyched about the Ethiopian restaurant moving into the RedStix place, but I fear for it, as that restaurant location seems cursed, as in the Seinfeld episode where Jerry muses about the cursed location that eventually becomes Baboo’s failed restaurant. Let’s hope Ethiopian breaks the curse.

T-Mobile on a prime corner location. Woo-f’n-hoo. There’s another business that belong inside a mall.
