This Weekend

Everybody’s hitting Howard University’s homecoming celebration this weekend, and I mean everybody. Even people who never attended a single class at Howard are showing up.

The first one booted from P. Diddy’s party can spend the rest of the weekend on the following:

Thursday

7:00 p.m. Lace up your sneakers for a 4- to 7-mile fun run. Hook up at Pacers (8535 Fenton St). The camaraderie is free. The chiseled quads and calves are payable in sweat.

8:00 p.m. The Round House Theatre (8641 Colesville Rd) presents “redshirts”, on race and college football. Tickets are $40 each.

Friday

1:00 p.m. Polish up that great American novel with the Autumn Writing Circle. The free help hits the Silver Spring Public Library (8901 Colesville Rd) until 2:30 p.m.

8:00 p.m. The Blair Mansion Inn (7711 Eastern Ave) unravels the mysteries of dinner theater with “Which Blair Project?” Fifty-five bucks gets you grub and a show.

8:00 p.m. The Round House Theatre (8641 Colesville Rd) presents “redshirts”, on race and college football. Tickets are $40 each.

Saturday

9:00 a.m. Enjoy the waning days of tasty croissants at the Ellsworth Drive farmers market. The buttery goodness goes down until 1:00 p.m.

8:00 p.m. Singers Jennifer Ellis Kampani and David Newman kick it real old-school style, with cantatas by Handel and Buxtehude. The music hits Woodside United Methodist Church (8900 Georgia Ave). Tickets are $15 to $28.

    The St. Michael’s Young Adults Group will host its Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 21 between 9 am and 12 pm. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, OJ, and coffee will be served. The breakfast will be held in conjunction with St. Michael’s ministry fair. Please join us in the Williamsburg Room at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 805 Wayne Avenue, Silver Spring. Suggested donation: $5.

    The Williamsburg Room is downstairs from the main church.
