This Weekend

In case you didn’t hightail it to the beach or mountains this week, here’s what’s cooking in the neighborhood this weekend.

Thursday

7:00 p.m. The David Bach Consort lays down smooth jazz on Ellsworth Drive’s Silver Plaza. The grooves are free.

9:00 p.m. Gallery restaurant and lounge (1115 East-West Hwy) hosts live Caribbean music. Twenty bucks and convincing ID get you through the door.

Friday

6:30 p.m. Ocio Jazz lays down more smooth jazz at Kefa Cafe’s Space 7:10 (963 Bonifant St). The performance is free. The iced frappuccino in your cup will cost you.

Saturday

9:00 a.m. Croissants at the Ellsworth Drive farmers market until 1:00 p.m. Be there.

10:00 a.m. The B&O rail station (8100 Georgia Ave) holds its monthly open house. Check it out for free until 3:00 p.m.

6:30 p.m. The Unity Reggae Band rocks Silver Plaza on Ellsworth Drive. The jammin’ is free.

Sunday

12:00 p.m. The Silver Spring artists market sets up shop at the Wayne Avenue plaza (in front of 8435 Georgia Ave). Score some art until 5:00 p.m.

2:00 p.m. Give Fido a little culture on the second annual Arts Walk/Dog Walk. The walk starts at Gateway’s Heliport gallery (8001 Kennett St), then wends to the Blair Mill Arts Alley (next to 8040 Georgia Ave) for doggie pampering. Kick it with your canine until 4:00 p.m.
