Call in sick. If you’re already at work, feign illness. Just get outside.
Otherwise, you could be stuck reading this week’s calendar of civic meetings:
Monday. Members of the county council once again mull over changes to the county’s growth policy. The discussion drops at 1:30 p.m. in Rockville.
Tuesday. The full county council takes its final whacks at three bills. One would give a tenants association the first shot at buying an apartment building before another buyer runs with it. The second bill would require developers to assess construction’s impact on pedestrians and cyclists. Finally, the road code is raked over the coals one last time.
Everything hits at 9:30 a.m. in Rockville.
Thursday. The planning board prepares to hit the county council up for $2.9 million to cover Silver Place, a mixed-use development and new planning board HQ planned for Georgia Avenue. The board also irons out details of the Silver Spring Transit Center. (Update: The transit center discussion has been postponed. — JD, Jul 3, 2007)
Both items are scheduled for the 1:00 p.m. session.
