Cops bust suspected burglar in Woodside Park

One man was arrested Friday on suspicions that he burglarized up to six homes in a residential Silver Spring neighborhood.

The unidentified District resident was busted as he tried to break into a Woodside Park home, third-district police Lt. Steve Auger told Silver Spring’s neighborhoods committee Monday night.

Police were led to the suspect a few weeks ago after a Woodside Park resident reported a car roaming around the neighborhood. The car’s license plate was traced to the suspect, who has a criminal record for burglary, Auger explained.

A special-assignments team then monitored the suspect’s District home for two weeks before following him back to Woodside Park, where he was busted Friday.

The suspect is out on bail. More charges against him are possible, Auger said.
