Crank up the bagpipes and the blues — it’s Friday! Take in some tunes, or score some gently used yet highly dramatic duds. Here’s what’s cooking this weekend.
On Saturday, the Silver Spring Stage (10145 Colesville Rd, in the Woodmoor Shopping Center) cleans out its closets. Bag some dramatic costumes and props for your next party or weekend. The threads are free, but toss ‘em a couple of bucks. Donations go towards the theatre’s makeover project.
The event goes down between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Hit the rear entrance for admittance.
At 4:00 p.m., the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums blow the roof off McGinty’s Public House (911 Ellsworth Dr). Donations go towards the pipe and drum corp.
After that, stagger to Montgomery College’s Black Box Theatre (Philadelphia at Chicago avenues, on the Silver Spring/Takoma Park campus) and catch the Little Bit A Blues band. Go for the upbeat honky tonk. Stay for the low-down, dirty-ass blues. Two sets go down — at 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
Tickets will set you back $15 each ($10 for kids and seniors; $5 if you’re faculty, staff or a student of the college).
