Happy Presidents Day! Thanks to Abraham Lincoln’s courage and George Washington’s cunning, we as Americans can enjoy fabulous markdowns on all our favorite merchandise. Or we can take in this week’s civic activities.Monday. County, state and federal employees get Presidents Day off. Libraries and courts also close shop. However, Metro transit and Ride-On bus service operate on a regular weekday schedule. Even better, parking at county-owned lots and meters are free.
Tuesday. The Long Branch advisory committee chats up all things Long Branch. The meeting happens at — where else — the Long Branch Community Center (8700 Piney Branch Rd) at 7:00 p.m.
Thursday. The future of the Falkland Chase apartment complex is discussed at the Silver Spring Regional Center (8435 Georgia Ave). Arrive before the 7:30 p.m. kickoff and score a seat inside the conference room.
