This Weekend

View larger imageFinding trouble should be easy this holiday weekend. Finding your way home when you’re faced, on the other hand, could be tough. Lucky for you, there are options.

Option 1: Take mass transit.

Metro trains run to 2:00 a.m. on New Year’s Eve (actually, Jan. 1) and start again at 7:00 a.m. Drink early to make the last train of the night, or drink late to catch the first train of the morning.

The last Ride-On bus leaves the Silver Spring Metro station at about 1:30 a.m. Metro buses run on a Sunday schedule.

Option 2: Take a cab.

Assuming that your driver and everyone else on the road isn’t drunk, the cab is a viable option to sleeping on a stranger’s doorstep. The Washington Regional Alcohol Program will even pick up the tab (up to a $50 fare) for rides with designated cab companies. Rides are free every night from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until Jan. 1, 2007.

Option 3: Designate a driver.

You know that friend of yours who has absolutely no problem getting laid? Make him your designated driver. After New Year’s Eve, he’s got all of 2007 to get his freak on. Tonight may be your only shot.

Option 4: Stay sober.

It’s cheap and there’s no hangover. The next morning, harrass your friends with loud sounds, bright lights and pungent odors.

By the way, all liquor stores in Montgomery County are closed on Dec. 31. But you can still get your hootch in the District and Virginia.
